Outing 5 - Druids Heath Golf Club - CAPTAIN’S DAY

• When: 15th August 2026
• First Tee Off: 13:00pm

• Course details: Website

Today’s golf was the one we were all waiting for - Captain Noel’s big day down in Wicklow at the Druid’s Heath course. The scene was set and the mood was good and the Captain’s honour of the first shot away for the day was watched on by us all as we basked in glorious sunshine. Noel even got some Dutch courage up before shooting and decided his teammates might need some too..

While the course showed evidence of the very hot summer we had until now and was really scorched in patches, we were determind have a good day. While we would be lying if we said that the course was in good condition …

… some of us managed more than most to engineer some great golf anyway. None more so than Barry Ward who had an exceptional round even breaking the 40 mark - well done Barry, it really was a pleasure. As per usual and especially on Captain’s Day, we ceratinly had the craic. So much so that we forgot to get some photos of the presentations as they had to happen on the bus (that’s another story). What we can happily report though is that everyone’s favourite Scuba Diver Keith “Scuba Twig” Lawlor also had a fantastic round of golf and scooped the category 2 winner’s prize into the bargain. Well done Keith! Just like always, we had a really great day and one that Noel was chuffed with.

The committee did check the rest of the results though and they are confirm that they are as follows:

  • OVERALL WINNER: Barry Ward
  • Category 1 Winner: Ian Duffy
  • Category 1 Runner Up: Jack Sheedy
  • Category 1 Third: Darren Dempsey
